Positive news for EU commercial vehicle market. After the decline registered in December, new year opened with an encouraging +7.6% over the same month last year, totalling 142,596 units sold in January.
Significant growth for buses and coaches over 3.5t (+21.2%), mainly driven by the remarkable results showed by UK (+61.6%) and Spain (+52.2%). Heavy trucks and trucks segments reached respectively +8.4% and +6.7%, while new registrations of light commercial vehicles increased by 7.4% (117,138 units sold).
With regard to the main national markets, only France posted a drop in sales (-9.9%), while Spain and UK recorded double-digit growth (+25.7% and +23.6%). Germany also performed better than in January 2014, with +5.5%.
Italian market increased slightly this month, with 10,922 commercial vehicles registered, +1.2% over the same period last year. This was largely due to the positive outcome of LCV (+2.4%, 9,200 vehicles sold), while others segments faced a downturn (in particular buses and coaches registration decreased by 12%).
