New passenger car registrations in the EU: +6.2% in January

With 1,061,150 new registrations in January 2016, European passenger car market marked the 29th consecutive month of growth, increasing by 6.2% over January 2015. This is an encouraging result and a definitely good start to the year, following the positive trend registered in 2014 and 2015.

Looking at the major national markets, Italy posted the highest upturn (+17.4%, with 155,157 units sold, 23 thousand over the same month last year) followed by Spain, also with double digit growth (+12.1%). Good performances also for France (+3.9%), Germany (+3.3%) and UK (+2.9%), although at a slower rate.
