EU passenger car market: +2.9% in October, +8.2% over 10 months

Marking the 26th consecutive month of growth, in October passenger car registrations in the EU continued the positive trend reaching +2.9% and totaling 1,104,868 units. Except for the UK (-1.1%) all main national markets kept growing, though not as fast as in the previous months of 2015: Italy (+8.6%, with 132,929 registrations, over 10 thousand more than in October 2014), Spain (+5.2%), Germany (+1.1%) and France (+1.0%).

From January to October Eu passenger car market increased by 8.2%, exceeding 11.5 million units (11,523,903), +873,156 over the same period last year. All major markets expanded, contributing to the overall upturn, also supported by a significant growth in the EU’s new member states. Spain (+20.5%) and Italy (+14.7%, 170 thousand registrations more compared to the first 10 months of 2014) both posted double-digit growth, followed by UK (+6.4%), France (+5.7%) and Germany (+5.1%).
