Eu commercial vehicle registrations: +8.7% in August, +11.8% over eight months

In August 2015 demand for new commercial vehicles reached +8.7%, registering the eighth consecutive month of growth, with 113,865 units sold. Double digit figure for Spain (+43.6%), Italy (+21.2%, totalling 6,670 new registrations, 1,165 more than in August 2014) and UK (+15.8%). Germany marked a significant downturn (-8.7%) while French market remained stable (+0.2%).

90,675 new light commercial vehicles were sold in August (+7,0%), marking the second consecutive year of growth. Good result for buses and coaches segment (+23.1%, mainly driven by UK market expansion), heavy trucks (+19.0%) and trucks (+14.7%), supported by Spain, thanks to the government incentive program.

From January to August 2015 EU market totalled 1,308,788 new commercial vehicles sold, +11.8% over the same period last year (+140 thousand units). All main national markets positively contributed to the overall expansion: Spain (+37.0%), UK (+19.0%), Italy (+10.3%, 92,552 registrations), Germany (+2.4%), France (+0.8%).
