Commercial vehicles in EU: +20.7% in March, +13.3 in first quarter

With 223,749 units, the highest monthly result since December 2013, EU commercial vehicles registrations recorded the third consecutive month of growth, reaching +20.7% in March 2015. All segments contributed to the overall positive trend.

All main national markets posted double digit growth: Spain (+67.6), UK (+25.6%), Germany (+13.1%), France (+11.1%), Italy (+10.2%, with 12,649 new commercial vehicles registered, 1,168 more than in March 2014).

Nineteenth consecutive month of growth for new light commercial vehicles (+20.5%), with 189,319 units sold, best result since May 2011. Amongst other segments, buses and coaches (+33.1%), heavy trucks (+27.9%) and trucks (+21.2%) all posted growth.

In the first three months of the year, demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU reached +13.3% over the same period last year, with 502,210 units sold (nearly 60 thousand units more). In the first quarter of 2015, France only showed slight downturn (-0.5%), while other largest markets expanded – Spain (+42.3%), UK (+24.2%), Germany (+7.1%) and Italy (+7.0%, with 34.487 registrations).
