Commercial vehicle registrations: -2.5% in December, +7.6% over 12 months.

With 166,742 units sold in December, EU market for new commercial vehicles recorded a slight decrease (-2.5% over the same month last year). Significant drop in sales for bus and coach sectors, while the light commercial vehicle segment showed an increase of 14.4%.

With regard to the main national markets, negative results were recorded in UK (-9.2%) and Germany (-5.2%). Italy showed a modest drop with 12,421 commercial vehicles registered in December (-2.5% over the same period last year). Spain showed the best outcome, with an encouraging +33.8%, while France only reached +1.5%.

Especially noteworthy is the significant decrease posted by the new EU member states (-9.0%), which in some measure explains the negative trend in December.

Over 12 months 1,849,077 new commercial vehicles were registered, 7.6% more than in 2013. Double-digit growth in Spain (+31.6%), UK (+10.8%) and Italy (+13.9% - 132,349 units). Positive outcome also in Germany (+4.8%), while France showed no significant change (-0.4%).
